Cardiovascular And Resistance Training Mar 31

cardiovascular and resistance training

Is running on a treadmill less of a workout than running outside?

I don’t like to run outside – I much prefer running in my own cool basement. That way i dont have to worry about cars and people watching me, my allergies aren’t as bad, I breathe easier, I can maintain an exact pace and keep track of how far I’ve gone, I feel more relaxed, and i can blast my music. HOWEVER, I know that since on a treadmill the ground is moving underneath your feet, you don’t have to give as much of a push with each step. And I know there’s no wind resistance when running on a treadmill.

I only run because I like the endorphins and I want to improve my cardiovascular health. I am not training for any races, just burning calories and getting a runner’s high. That being said, how much less effective is running on a treadmill versus running outside? Am I cheating myself by not getting as good of a workout?
I typically run 2 miles on the treadmill in about 20 minutes at varying speeds from 5 to 8.5 mph, then walk until I cool down.

it is fine to run on the treadmill if you not training for a race.because id you were training for a race then you must run outside so that you can prepare mentally for your race but since you just want to lose some weight, then it is perfectly fine to run on your treadmill.enjoy!
