What Is Resistance Training

what is resistance training

Is this considered resistance training?

Today, I was bench pressing and someone told me to hold the weight up above my head for 5 seconds between each time I go down and then up again slowly and repeat…I was told this is resistance training for bench pressing.

What difference does this make on the development of my arms?

Is this a “better” way to build stamina?
In what way does it work the muscle differently? What would be the purpose of this? Is this type of working out good for anything specific?

Holding the contraction is for working the muscle a little differently and put more tension on the muscle. If you want more stamina it is best to do one count reps, no holding. Just up, down, up, down. Good luck.
