resistance training with bands
After a good workout, Sit,push, chin push Ups for an hour, Is a tall glass of milk good for post workout? RD!?
Im 15 and do a good hour workout with chin ups, pulls ups, push ups, sit ups and resistance band training! Is a tall glass of milk after my workout a good substitute for a good source of protein? Since i would have my workout then eat dinner maybee an hour later which is too late so i like to have a big tall glass of milk after my workout! Is this any good for me? Cheers! Thanks!
Milk is an excellent Post workout drink! 500mL has around 18grams of protein! Throw in a banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter or cheese and you’ve got excellent postworkout meal. After an intense workout, it is true you need protein but you need carbs more because you are depleting your muscles glycogen stores.
As a result, eating sweet foods will actually lead to an insulin spike and deliver the carbs to your muscles quicker.
However, you said you do one hour of workout…this may be intense and you should add a little bit more protein to help repair the muscle tissue. A better postworkout meal would be chocolate milk which contains a great amount of carbs and similar protein intake.
Just be sure to eat a lot because you’re 15 and you’re in your growing years:)
